Chymocin Trypsin and Chymotrypsin Tablets

Composition

Each enteric sugar coated tablet contains

Trypsin B.P. + Chymotrypsin B.P. (6:1)

Equivalent to 50,000 U.S.P.

Units of proteolytic enzyme activity.

 

Description

They are pancreatic enzymes which have been used locally like streptokinase-streotodomase.

They act on more protein than the latter and also on mucin. Given orally both enzymes are probably useful for allaying inflammation, haemotomas and bruising. It is possible that oral Chymotrypsin may reduce sputum viscosity, though not in patients with abnormal mucus (mucoviscidosis).

 

Indication

Adjunctive therapy in management of inflammatory Oedema due to injury, surgery, infection or dental procedures.

 

Dosage

Two tablets four times daily. Swallow whole tablets half an hour before meals.

 

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity.

 

Special Precautions

Patients with irregularities of blood clotting mechanism. Severe hepatic or renal disease.

 

Paediatrics

Use with caution.

 

Pregnancy

Use only, if clearly indicated.

 

Elderly

Use with caution.

 

Presentation

Box of 3 strips of 10 tablets each.

 

Storage

Store below 30oC and dry place, protect from light.
