Ketovail 200: Each capsule contains ketoprofen



“KETOVAIL 200” Transparent pink capsules with opaque white cap (printed KETOVAIL 200 in black). Each capsule contains 200mg ketoprofen in a pH sensitive controlled release delivery system.



KETOVAIL 200 is a potent non steroidal anti-inflammatory analgesic agent and a strong inhibitor of prostaglandin synthetase. It is recommended for the management of rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, acute articular and peri-articular disorders (bursitis, capsulitis, synovitis tendonitis), fibrositis, cervical spondylitis, low back pain, (strain, lumbago, sciatica, fibrositis), painful musculo-skeletal conditions and dysmenorrhoea.

“KETOVAIL 200” reduces joint pain and inflammation and facilitates increase in mobility and functional independence. As with other non-steroidal anti inflammatory agents, it does not cure the underlying disease.


Dosage and direction for Use

“KETOVAIL 200” is administered orally to limit occurrence of gastrointestinal disturbances; capsules should always be taken with food.

Dosage: 200mg, once daily.

Paediatric dosage not established.



Active peptic ulceration; a history of recurrent peptic ulceration or chronic dyspepsia disease in children. Ketoprofen should not be given to patients sensitive to aspirin or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents known to inhibit prostaglandin syhthetase. Severe broncospasm might be precipitated in these subjects and in patients suffering from or with a history of bronchial asthma or allergic disease.



Pregnancy & Lactation: Embryopathic effects have not been recorded with this drug but on medical principles, it is recommended to avoid medication during pregnancy and lactation.

Plasma protein binding drugs: ”KETOVAIL 200” is highly protein bound. Concomitant use of other protein binding drugs, e.g. anti-coagulants, sulphoamides, hydantoins, might necessitate modifications of dosage in order to avoid increased levels of such drugs resulting from competition for the plasma protein binding sites.

Gastro intestinal intolerance may occur and very rarely gastro intestinal haemorrhage. “KETOVAIL 200” capsules should always be prescribed ”To be taken with food”



Adverse effects, frequently transient, include indigestion, dyspepsia, flatulence, heartburn, abdominal discomfort, nausea, and very rarely skin rashes.



Store in a cool, dry place.

Keep this medication out of the reach of children.
