It is sterile solution of Metoclopramide Hydrochloride in water for injection. Each 2ml ampoule contains Metoclopramide Hydrochloride 10mg.
Metoclopramide hydrochloride is a substituted benzamide which stimulates the motility of the upper gastro-intestinal tract without effecting gastric acid secretion. Metoclopramide increases gastric peristals leading to accelerated gastric emptying.
Used in the treatment of some forms of nausea and vomiting such as that associated with cancer therapy or that following surgery, it is of little benefit in the prevention or treatment of motion sickness.
This agent may be used to facilitate intubation procedures and to stimulate gastric emptying during radiographic examinations.
Also used for gastro-oesophageal reflux or gastric statis.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
Given by intramuscular or slow intravenous injection in 10mg dose three times daily.
this agent may cause extrapyramidal symproms which usually occur as acute dystonic reactions especially in young patients. The risk may be reduced by keeping the daily dose below 500µg per kg body-weight. Parkinsonism and/or tardive dyskinesia have occasionally occurred.
Ampoule of 2ml Box of 10 ampoules.
Store in a cool, dark and dry place.
